September 16, 2016

Dear Parents,

What a week we have had in second grade!  Thank you to all the family and friends who were able to attend Open House.  What a great turn-out :-)

We also had an amazing group of chaperones who helped with our trip to the Oxford Agricultural County Fair.  The helpful hands made the day safer and more pleasant for everyone, so….THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU!

We have completed our first week of spelling homework.  Please make the homework assignments work for you and your child.  The goal is to learn the list words along with the no excuse words.  The assignments can be modified in any way that best motivates and meets the needs of your child.

We observed Constitution Day (also referred to as Citizenship Day) by meeting as a whole group to discuss the importance of this day.  It is a day designed to celebrate the ratification of the US Constitution.  We took a trip back in time to September 17, 1787 to relive this important day in history!

Please take notice of the NWEA testing days and times.  It will be crucial for your second grader to be on time so that it does not interfere with the testing schedule.

Thank you again for your support!
Sincerely,
The Second Grade Teachers
